Synopsis
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as their long-standing rivalry comes to a head. The same filming location was used to depict Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark.
It’s a pretty perfect modern adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s book
That’s almost a compliment, and that’s entirely thanks to the excellent cast & some occasionally cracked texts. That said – in terms of writing, the dialogue gets noticeably more clunky around the episode 5 mark.
A good laugh and a pleasant break from the exaggeration of heavy crime dramas – but not classics
I don’t know if it’s a change in writer or if the writing team has run out of steam with a fairly ambitious production, but it’s disturbing. But like all of Cooper’s work in any form, it was always going to veer towards a soapy tone, and the fact that it mostly isn’t is really impressive – but it IS funny.
